LingoVoice® is operated by Lingo Service Translations, Cardiff, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through LingoVoice. You can contact us at support@lingovoice.ai.

3. How We Use Your Data

Service delivery - Translating messages, processing voice, managing your account and balance.
Security - Detecting abuse, preventing fraudulent signups, protecting the platform.
Billing - Processing payments, tracking usage, managing your balance and top-ups.
Communication - Sending verification emails, password resets, and service updates.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

To deliver our platform, we share limited data with the following categories of third-party service providers:

5. Cookies and Local Storage

LingoVoice uses minimal cookies and browser storage:

Authentication cookie - A secure cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days. Essential for the service to work.
Browser storage - Stores your session information locally for a seamless experience.

We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

6. Browser Fingerprinting

To prevent abuse of our free tier, we collect browser fingerprint data when you register. This includes:

A composite fingerprint hash (irreversible — the original data cannot be reconstructed).
Basic device metadata: screen resolution, timezone, browser language, and user agent.
IP address (also listed in Section 2).

This data is:

Used solely to detect duplicate account creation.
Not shared with any third party.
Deleted when your account is closed.

7. Data Retention

Account data - Retained while your account is active, deleted upon account closure.
Messages and translations - Stored temporarily during your session for transcript purposes. Not retained long-term.
Payment records - Retained for 7 years as required by UK tax regulations, even after account deletion.
Security logs (IP, fingerprint) - Retained while your account is active, deleted upon account closure.

8. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to:

Access your personal data.
Correct inaccurate personal data.
Delete your account and associated data.
Export your data in a portable format.
Object to processing based on legitimate interest.

8a. Account Deletion

You can delete your account in two ways:

Self-service — Go to your account settings in the app and choose "Delete Account". This takes effect immediately.
Email — Email support@lingovoice.ai with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from the email address on your account. We will process your request within 7 days.

When your account is deleted, we will:

Delete your account, profile, and authentication data.
Delete your usage sessions and balance records.
Delete your fingerprint and abuse prevention data.
Anonymise and retain payment transaction records for 7 years as required by UK tax law (your name and email are removed, only the transaction amount and date are kept).

9. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:

Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are protected using industry-standard one-way hashing.
All connections are encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
Authentication tokens are stored in an irreversible hashed form.
Cookies are configured with security best practices to prevent unauthorised access.

10. Children

LingoVoice is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the platform.
